Need to distinguish between html text and text contained within a pdf file (say an ASX announcement downloaded from Comsec which all require Acrobat to open.

If its pdf its fairly hard to do so its easier to go to a site such as www.stocknessmonster.com where you will find all the announcements (after 20 minutes or so) available in standard html.

Firstly, highlight the text you wish to copy.

You do this by locating the cursor at the beginning or end of the text you wish to copy the clicking down on the left mouse button and without releasing the button dragging the cursor to the other end of the document until all the text you wish to copy is highlighted. Then release the left button.

Now, without clicking on anything else press down Ctrl C ie press and hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and while it is pressed down press the 'c' button.

This will copy the highlighted text.

Now open up the HC posting window. Locate the cursor at the point in your post where you want the text to be copied to and click on the post box to locate the flashing cursor there. Now, press and hold down the Ctrl button again and then press 'v'.

This will paste the copied text to your post.

(Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs and this wasn't what you were asking?)
