The Bureau of Meteorology has announced it will tender for electronic upgrades to its two wave-measuring buoys, The Australian Financial Review reports.
According to the newspaper, the upgrades at the data buoys - located at Tasmania's Cape Sorell and South Australia's Cape du Couedicin - could potentially pave the way for more buoys to complement recent wave power technology advances
".. the bureau is looking for commercially available software to record, process and report wave height data and assist with calibration of the buoys," the newspaper reports, adding it was also considering daily monitoring of data and an annual "quality controlled" data report.

The move comes after ASX-listed Carnegie Wave Energy this month become the first wave energy generator to connect to a national grid.
