MARINE PHOSPHATE SAMPLING PROGRAMME COMMENCES IN NAMIBIA
Bonaparte Diamond Mines NL (“Bonaparte” or “the Company”) (ASX: BON) is pleased to confirm commencement of the marine phosphate sampling programme over the phosphate enriched seabed sediments within the 1000km2 tenement (EPL3323) in the Meob Project area off the coast of Namibia. The sampling vessel, chartered by the Company, is currently en-route to the project area having sailed from the port of Luderitz on Monday 25 August 2008. Although the sampling vessel was ready to start operations at the end of July 2008, commencement was delayed, waiting on final regulatory permitting and favourable sea conditions. The sampling vessel is expected to be onsite by Wednesday 27 August 2008 to commence work on the combined grab and core programme comprising some 650 samples.

Managing Director Mike Woodborne said: “We are very excited to have started this first stage of our accelerated programme to delineate a substantial phosphate resource to support our plans for establishment of marine phosphate production in Namibia in the short term.”

The sampling programme has been designed by the Company’s experienced in-house team, in consultation with a geostatistician from a leading independent consultancy to facilitate JORC compliant resource estimation. In addition, two large samples will be obtained for metallurgical and beneficiation studies. The field programme is expected to be completed within two months and interim results will be provided at appropriate stages when available. An initial JORC compliant mineral resource estimate is expected in Q4 2008.

An initial programme of reconnaissance sampling in the newly awarded exploration licences (4,000km2 in total) will also be undertaken as an extension to the current programme
