book debunks religion causes most wars theory

    much is often said in these forums that religion is the biggest cause of war and that it should be banished. but more often than not they who advocate this dont seem to realise that their espousal of that and the fact that most proudly wear their atheism on their shirt don't realise that atheism itself is a religion.

    but to the gist of the post...

    in the encyclopaedia of wars by charles phillips and alan axelrod the theory that religion causes most wars has been refuted and shown to be an arguement put forward by those that espouse a hatred for the possibility that there is a judge to which they will answer.

    the book details 1763 wars and shows that of those only 123 are religion based however it also shows that 66 of those were started by islam which is over 50%

    funnily enough according to the book the us has been involved in only 17 wars in 200 years including the current war on terror which does have religious overtones

    overall only 7% of the wars studied have religious causes and only 14.2 americans have died per year in religious wars which is less than the number of people who die as a result of dog bite
