"espouse a hatred for the possibility that there is a judge to which they will answer" If someone believed in the possibility there was a judge to which they would answer, I think it more likely they would become religious, than declare themselves an athiest.. I think this kind of comment is a projection of a religious persons beliefs onto others. If you deny scientology, does it somehow qualify you as a closet scientologist??
I guess I never considered the statement religion causes most wars, rather that religion is responsible for more deaths than any other man made construct. If there is a god, I rather hope it would feel disappointed in mankind's interpretation of religion, and the actions borne in the name of faith. Best to acknowledge past faults, and make sure they're not repeated (this does not mean disbanding religion though!).
