Hi Kab ---
I am always sorry and sad for those people (especially the younger group) who do not consider reading to be a essential part of life, of course many of them find that their grasp of the English language is so bad they basically can't read anyway ( I am not talking about people who do not have English as their main language)
I remember reading a novel where the writer in the first two pages described a beach so accurately that I was immediately transported to that beach, I could see every facet of that beach in my mind.
If someone has a limited vocabulary how do they get any joy from reading?
Incidentally I didn't enjoy the book as the plot was very weak, but fantastic descriptive prose
Schools should concentrate on the three Rs more
