I've abandoned Bates for the time being and have started a reread of some Graham Greene (The Human Factor).
I'd forgotten how funny he could be in a very dry way.
When, after years of compulsory academic reading, law & such, I embarked about 30 years ago on a campaign of catching up on English Lit. for pleasure it was like a forced feeding frenzy and I fear I didn't allow myself time to really savour what I was consuming.
