Instead of packing scores of books up prior to getting rid of them, as I will have to at some point, I've started re-reading some authors I made a point of collecting.
For example. H E Bates is an early to mid 20th century author often classed as low brow or popular fiction writer.
He might be best known to people as the author of Darling Buds of May. Many of his short novels were made into movies because he is such a great creator of stories.
He wrote an enormous number of books, many of them collections of short stories, and these are among my favourite, because he wrote about an enchanting rural England that doesn't exist anymore, peopled with characters in all kinds of life situations.
I have a great many of his books, some of them pretty tattered, and that's what I'm reading now and for some time to come.
