I don't know if this is the most appropriate section for this post but here it is

Just finished reading An Outback Life by Mary Graves

This lady was born in Melbourne and then the family moved to the Territory and she lived there for most of her life therafter

It was interesting to me because of the first hand account of how the lives of the people in the north were changed by politicians and bureaucrats who obviously had no idea what they were doing. (And they are still doing it)

How it affected the aboriginal way of life, the station owners and the beef industry

One aspect that I had to come to grips with having lived in the same period was the realization of how primitive life was in the North which although it was the 60s, 70s and 80s sounded like the Wild West of America in the 1800s

A good read apart from the historical and educational aspect
