So what if it's a "slow bear" ? Given that we are in a bull market (and have been for years) what will happen to your portfolio if the drift down is a steady trickle over 12 months' whip-saw losses ?
The world markets see events such as September 11 as an opportunity to buy. Every bear market is different, some move slow and others move fast. The markets are becoming extremely volitile, and the asx is booming at record levels; for me, I see a slow bear eating into profits, followed by a savage bear that will make 1987 look like a picnic. When interest rates start to rise, consider a new proffesion.
