    Acorn,

I work in the Sydney CBD in financial services and given the nature of my work, I could not work further out for anywhere near the same amount of money. I also like to be close to my kids' school in Hunters Hill for pick up and drop off and the school can't be changed as it's locked into the consent orders agreed with my ex. My house is also close to my partner's work. And I can get the ferry to and from work which I much prefer to the bus or train. That said, I could move further out and save rent if my partner and I were prepared to have more travel time.

I have 4 kids, one on the way and in laws who stay for a quarter of the year so have a 4 bedroom house. If I moved west but within a reasonable distance of where I am, I could get something of a similar standard for $650 a week, however I'd much rather spend the extra $200 to have the advantages of where I live now.
