The majority of post war(ww2) were Europeans, majority from provincial cultures and regions very much different to British Australia. The integration was positive, they adopted Australia, added to the culture some good, some different and some questionable, but all in all everything was colourful and positive.
The majority of new arrivals were also willinging to discard the mindset and lifestyle of the old country.
But today, the middle east arrivals of whatever religion, are not willinging to discard the mindset and lifestyle, so if the bring with them the old ways look at the middle east why do they come? no difference between a village in Lebanon, Syria ,Iraq or the galilee.
The clan culture prevails, mindset of honour and welfare etc
that's why we have problems, and forced to react without tolerance.
