With the ever increasing illigal boats arriving at our shores and the over filled detention centres bursting at the seams, surely it is time for the Gillard government to take another look at stopping this trade. I would suggest that we employ Blackwater Maritime Security Services to patrol our waters and a few hundred miles further out to convince these illegals not to approach our territorial waters. According to The Age newspaper today, Blackwater has a ship in the Gulf of Aden and had outfitted its ship with .50-calibre machineguns and a small, unarmed drone aircraft. The ship, named the McArthur, would carry a crew of 33 to patrol the Gulf of Aden for 30 days before returning to Djibouti to resupply. Employing Blackwater to patrol our coast will then release our navy to do what it is trained to do, protect our shores instead of the unsatisfying job of guiding all illigal boats to our shores.
