Aus: The examples you give are irrelevant to my earlier question.

Showa Denko is RE metals not a separation plant. Shin-Etsu had plans in early 2012 (to produce 1kt/a) but nothing much has been heard since, and the 3rd one was simply an intention. It appears that there's no substance in any of them, on the RE separation front, for now at least.

Showa Denko Rare-Earth Vietnam Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) established in October 2008, has completed a new rare earth metal plant in Vietnam. The plant will produce 800 tons a year in total of didymium and dysprosium metals, which are used as raw material for neodymium-based high-performance magnetic alloys. A ceremony was held today at the plant to celebrate the completion.

Japan's Shin-Etsu Chemical Co plans to spend about 2 billion yen ($25.9 million) to build a plant in Vietnam to process rare-earth metals for use in hybrid vehicle motors and other products, the Nikkei reported, citing company sources.

The plant, which is expected to process 1,000 tons of rare earths annually, would be Shin-Etsu's first such facility outside Japan and is slated to come onstream in February 2013
