How does having 715 on life support and 14 deaths a day and 129,000 deaths to date equate to success?

A drop to 25,000 new cases in a week from such a high base of 40,000 should be weighed by the increase of hospitalisations from 4,600 to 5200 and increase in vaccinations (88% adults first jab, 71% second jab).

The thing is, the new cases skyrocket by 2000% on April and May average after the ropes were progressively loosened.
