    No I didn't miss the point. The owner will still have something and the renter will still have NOTHING. The value of the asset MAY be below the inflation adjusted value in the shorter term future but that is extremely UNLIKELY over the longer term. Plus the owner will eventually own the asset outright, while the renter's rent will be constantly increasing over time. The owner will be far better off in the long term over the non-saving renter.

    Problem is you guys only focus on the short term, any investment can be made to look bad over the shorter term.
