BHP, Vale and Rio were all lifting production trying to force smaller players out. This tragedy does pose the question of whether the push for increased production overloaded the tailing dams. Flawed in any case as it has killed profit and SP for all; including the BHP strategy to borrow to maintain dividends . This published intention just about sums up the management performance; which all here seem to ignore.
Vale down another 4.27% overnight night; likely to be an equally muddy day for BHP on Monday. With Roy Hill coming on line early in the new year and falling iron ore prices sub $10 is a possibility; maybe not quite that far but I believe it will go close.
