I don't read x post because plenty was spread around with a lot of info and verification is next to impossible.
However, my post reading says that companies normally tie up with long-term contract with spot as well as fixed price type of mechanism. Because without fixing spot it is high risk for both buyer & seller (depending upon what is the market condition). So spot price is relevant.
