"Has a shift from graphite mining to mining government subsidies become new company focus?

What mining company doesn't take full advantage of government subsidies, negotiate favourable terms when locating it's business - only a dumb one I suggest?

Tesla's Elon Musk built his multi billion dollar businesses - Tesla, SolarCity, SpaceX - on the back of estimated (so far) $4.9 billion in government support. Nevada state provided Tesla with $1.3 billion in incentives to build the GF in that state. New York state provided $750 million to build the SolarCity GF2 in their state. Mining companies operating in Australia are no different and Australian companies setting up mines in overseas location also take full advantage. Suggest you take a peak into the biggest Aussie miners and check out their tax breaks/subsidies, and yes us taxpayers are helping to fund them.

However, these companies all provide jobs and open up new areas for supporting industries/businesses that also provide new jobs. That's the whole idea of government subsidies.

    So what's your issue?

BTW - Bill Moss was part of a group of industry specialists that were bought together by the NT Govt back in 2015 to guide the government in it's plants for the development of Northern Australia.

"SMH article quoting minister also laments NAIF yet to lend any funds"

Recent media articles suggest there could be around five projects, set to benefit from the fund, would be announced by mid-year - which is round about now. So, stay tuned I guess.
