About 92% of the US have health insurance coverage.
More than 50% of Americans with health insurance have it paid for by employers. Additionally, other free coverage (to the individual) includes Tricare (covers military personnel), Medicare (for over 65s), Medicaid (low income individuals), and VA and CHAMPVA (for veterans).
Only 10% of Americans with health insurance, pay directly to the insurer for coverage.
So yes, as far as pharma goes - it is very much like spending 'other' people's money!
