Rationale.
when volume is light, Load up the offer, which when you’re very long stock is very easy to do. Hem it in. make it look heavy. Control the optics. This is common facilitation type activity.
For the small volume that does trade, sellers may hit the bid, fearing the queue is too long on the offer side, or just get spooked when seeing the relative size of the offer to the bid.
Great for accumulating when stocks are in a holding pattern and have healthy recent profits that some are considering taking.
