Even then their 'fair value' is still very much guesswork. I think it is only really accurate on companies which have extremely consistent revenues and expenses (ie WOW /COL), which I think you were alluding to.
Early stage high growth and/or combined with unexpected one off expenses / industry specific macro downturns (ie 90% of companies), their 'fair value' is as good as us on here throwing up 12 month SP guesses. My for value EOFY 2026 is 1.25. Did I use discounted cash flow with an equation a PHD physics student would be proud of? - nope. But just as reliable as the SWS fair value or brokers too, some of whom have a buy, hold and some a sell. Although at least 'some' analysts do thorough research and can claim credibility on their recommendations.
