Depending on your timeframes and income situation, selling and repurchasing when you’ve already held for a while might convert a capital gain liability taxable at 50% of your marginal rate, to a capital loss offset-able at only 50% and a much larger gain taxed at 100% of your marginal rate.
(Obviously I’m not an accountant so not advice!)
