In a double blind study only the experimenters and patients are kept in the dark as to who received the active and who received the vehicle only product. There has to be some way to track the products so that when the study concludes and the data is collated they can match up which patient received which product.

I'm doubtful Botanix would have given out the proprietary 'recipe' (for lack of a better term) for Permetrex to 11 different manufacturers. I find it entirely feasible that the Permetrex required for the BTX1503 study would have been produced by only a couple of trusted labs at the most.
