The old BSG (now CXC) always had active robot trading so that, at times, over half the trades were <$100, most in the $30 range. Even if no-one was accepting the bid/offer it was constantly changing. A small parcel was offered and approx a minute later it was removed. About a min later it was replaced at a slightly different price. This would just keep going for hours.
Apart from the suspicion that it wasn't good, I have no idea what the actual affect or goal was.
