All the airlines are now on the same strategy, before it was expand at all costs which meant expensive fleets and increased competition leading to lots of empty seats, now it is reduce the fleet and milk it for cash while you can, the reduced competition is leading to all the airlines producing good cashflow and paying down debt with it, Virgin lost 1bn usd over the last few years on a dumb strategy, they have now learnt something and are offloading routes to aqz and downsizing the fleet. AQZ have an old fleet but most of the planes have more than 10 years left on them and with nobody even hinting at buying new planes to put up against them for a long time they can milk the mainly paid for fleet for years to come .... The replacement for the fokker 100's which aqz hold at around 5 mio a plane would be the new bombadier 300 which would cost a min of 5 mio aud a year to lease , so AQZ have a moat of 50-100m a year of cashflow minimum above anyone trying to compete with them, also in the Fifo space Cobham in the UK are selling off any non core part of their business anyone will bid on, there is no way they will expand their fleet apart from replacing old Arvos with more old arvos ...
