So for the call and put options:
People can lend their shares to other people to go long/short for a period of time. Typically the calls and puts last a month.
So by the end of each month the calls and puts need to be closed in order for the shares to be returned to the person lending them out.
Normally if the market is trending sideways calls and puts are good ways to make extra money, you get paid interest on them when lending them out.
But this month it seems something was a littl out of the ordinary as a lot of people either made a lot of money or lost a lot of money.
Probably best to Google calls and puts to get it explained properly.
