A uni revue was produced using these 'bon mots' as the title.
"canetoad" was,at this time, patois/slang for an undesirable immigrant.
Zelman was so categorised because he condemned direct action preferring reasonable talk with the authorities.
Authority at this time was the early days Joh's Police State who were never going to respond to any Zelman intellectual argument.
Zelman subsequently packed up and hopped off back down South to the Governer General slot,leaving "progressive" elements in Qld to it's fate.

Of course,by 1980 Canetoad had been taken over by the Rugby League mob as meaning Qld born but it was originally "Undesirable [useless] Immigrant" especially from Down South earlier,"back in d'day".
