I agree with your comments and I've mapped the short-term pitchfork you described in your post over the top of my medium-term fork. I've also included what I think will prove to be the new trend channel. It corresponds almost exactly with the fork that results from mapping the alternative you mentioned in your last paragraph, i.e.
'..an alternative would be to use the 2 daily lows in the last 6 sessions, with the intervening high, and simply conclude that it points up, so if we do not break support in the next 3 days, then things are looking reasonably firm.'
At this stage, it looks that Friday's price action may have been a turning point from which all indications now point to upwards movement of the share price.
