In celebrating the final sign-off on Gorgon, the president of Exxon Development Company, Neil Duffin, observed: "With global demand for LNG forecast to triple by 2030, the Gorgon project will be a critical supply source in meeting this future demand, particularly for the economies in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region."
He went on to say....
What Duffin is telling us is that global oil needs to deliver at least 23 more Gorgons over the next 20 years or so to meet the expected growth in demand for gas as a fuel of first choice for power generation.
And there's the rub for Australia. By the time it is brought on line, Gorgon will likely be our third world-scale LNG project.
