I count a paper loss as an actual loss. I count an unrealised gain as UNrealised gain. This is the principle that I adhere to.
"The fact that this share price moves up or down will not cost me a penny" I had a similar mentality when I was a lot younger ... then I realised it was just my stupid ego that made me think like this. It was just my pathetic ego that did not want to look at reality so I had to convince myself that my original decision was correct. This was especially true when I was dealing with the speculative stocks.
