1:The value is in the blockchain technology which liberates people from Banks and credit cards. To understand where crypto currencies are going you need to have that fundamental understanding of blockchain. It's a technology that is going to revolutionize 21st century business.
2: You buy and sell on Echanges which is much the same as going through a broker with ASX. Easy as pie.
3: Tulips were a perishable item, subject to the vagaries of weather and bugs. Crypto currencies are are a reflection of blockchain (see above) and are imperishable and as demand increases, rare, hence the increase in value.
