Gilly, I'm happy to respond to you with respect as I believe your questions are legitimate and have some merit.

IMO they would rather have the ability to sell this technology to many different suitors. This is the much more potentially lucrative approach financially. You get one major player on board and as I mentioned in an earlier post, if it works as well as they claim it does, the contracts will flow on from the success of the first. None of these companies in this space want to be left behind. Personally I think back dooring this was probably a calculated gamble as they believe it will open up more opportunities. I also think that initial discussions (at the very least) must have been had with the likes of Netflix or I couldn't see them being mentioned so often in the recent announcement.

All just my opinion of course.
