I'd doubt whether anybody besides S32 and Tshipi would be making a profit currently on manganese ore, the price of freight is a major cost at present.  There is so much manganese ore coming out of South Africa and Ghana that they're flooding the market.
Manganese alloys on the otherhand are booming, the price in China is "8,650 yuan ($1,339) per tonne"
Chinese SiMn export is +20% for export tax so about US$1,607/tonne + shipping.
You can imagine how much profit alloys producers are making when the Mn ore only costs less than US$300 to produce one tonne of FeMn or SiMn.
The price of manganese ore should go up to reflect the alloy cost, manganese ore producers keep ramping up production and kill the golden goose. ( much like iron ore producers)
HBIS increases purchase price for September-delivery SiMn by $108/t
Hebei Iron & Steel Group (HBIS), China’s second-largest steelmaker, increased its purchase price for September-delivery silico-manganese to 8,650 yuan ($1,339) per tonne, sources told Fastmarkets.
The latest price is 700 yuan higher than the mill’s previous purchase price of 7,950 yuan per tonne for August-delivery cargoes.
HBIS’ price, which applies to cargoes delivered to warehouses, includes value-added tax and should be paid on acceptance.
The northern China-based steel mill released its first-round bid at 8,500 yuan per tonne on Wednesday September 1 and plans to buy around 27,566 tonnes of September-delivery silico-manganese, up by 5,216 tonnes from August.
