QANTAS is a fantastic company with good management and a respected board of directors. Unfortunately it is the favourite punching bag of politicians, bureaucrats, unions, talk back radio participants and especially the media.
The media goes into negative publicity overdrive when ever anything happens to a QANTAS flight and loves nothing more than to fabricate, twist or distort stories that can be used to trash QANTAS.
The media had a wonderful time with SARS and even went so far as to predict that 1 billion (yes 1 billion) people could die.
Now that SARS is disappearing off the radar screen (with only a few hundred deaths) the media are going to have to find something else to beat QANTAS with.
QANTAS fights on a world stage with one hand tied behind its back but nevertheless it is a company worth investing in at present levels and therefore I bought another 20,000 shares on Friday.
Go QANTAS.
