Bounty Oil and Gas to build on oil and gas discoveries in Tanzania with new agreement

Bounty Oil & Gas (ASX: BUY) has signed a new Production Sharing Agreement with the Tanzanian Government granting the company and its joint venture partners the right to explore for oil and gas over 1,690 square kilometres in the Nyuni area off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean.

Significantly, the Nyuni Joint Venture has already made two discoveries in the Nyuni area including the Kiliwani North field, which it expects to put into commercial production next year.

Kiliwani North 1 tested at 40 million cubic feet of gas per day in the Kiliwani North Pool, located only 3.5 kilometres from the Songo Songo gas plant and pipeline to Dar es Salaam.

Bounty believes there is considerable scope for establishing a new play fairway on the Continental Shelf.

The Nyuni Area Production Sharing Agreement includes an additional four contiguous blocks totalling 338 square kilometres to the north of the previous licence area.

These northern blocks are relatively unexplored and the joint venture believes they hold significant potential for structures analogous to recent deepwater discoveries to the east of Nyuni off the Tanzanian coast.

The Production Sharing Agreement has been awarded to Aminex’s (AIM: AEX) wholly-owned Tanzanian subsidiary Ndovu Resources and replaces the Nyuni-West Songo-Songo Production Sharing Agreement which is expiring on completion of its full term and satisfaction of work obligations.

A 25 year Development Licence for the Kiliwani North Gas Field was carved out of the earlier Production Sharing Agreement and granted in April 2011.

Estimated contingent and prospective resources for the Nyuni Production Sharing Agreement are 2.8 trillion cubic feet.
