Bail is always a difficult area. When an individual appears in court they're not considered to be guilty of anything. By denying someone bail, they're being sent to gaol, which is how we punish offenders found guilty of serious crimes. There are times when denying bail is necessary, but it constitutes punishing the legally innocent.
