If you want to reduce vehicle cost and improve mileage
on all those 4WD and AWD vehicles, that don't need it,
the just eliminate the dead weight and spin losses by
not fitting the front diff, front drive shafts, front prop
shaft and transfer case. You would then be able to
reduce the size of the fuel tank, still maintaining range
but further reducing the mean mass of the vehicle,
saving more fuel. You will save on rego cost with the
lighter vehicle too.
Those expensive, chunky, tyres also cost you fuel
economy. When did you last check your tyre pressure?
Also $8500 "saving" on fuel over the life of the vehicle
depends on what is meant by "the life of the vehicle".
most likely it could be the 300,000 km design durability
life (or some such figure). It won't be the saving over the
life of the vehicle in your ownership.
A lot of people seem to be getting upset by a politician
that couldn't hold down a job slopping out the dunnies
at a takeaway food franchise and who will, probably,
be out on his arse after the next election.
We can only live in hope.
