When people talk about range they generally talk about average range for the average person.

Auto manufacturers are famous for being a bit dodgy with their vehicle ranges and/or their emissions. VW being the classic example.

That's why it's great to see independent real world testing by trusted sources. They always produce a much more realistic set of numbers.

There will always be outliers.

lf you only do country driving with minimal stops in a modern ice vehicle you will get better than average fuel economy .

lf you only do city stop start driving it will be much worse.

Cherry picking those isn't average and the driving circumstances should always be included as a caveat.

Just as there will always be that person in one's social group whose car always gets better fuel economy/goes faster/tows more etc than anyone else's.
