Coronaviruses have been in human circulation forever. Coronaviruses cause about 20% of common colds. This recently published study shows that Covid19, a supposedly ‘novel’ coronavirus, was already circulating in Italy by September 2019 (but likely even earlier). But no one even noticed (symptoms would have just been diagnosed and treated as common respiratory illnesses).
In fact if we were never told about SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that supposedly causes Covid19) we never would have known about it (ie. just another severe flu season).
This study used blood samples from lung cancer patient screening trials that had begun in September 2019.
"This study shows an unexpected very early circulation of SARS-CoV-2 among asymptomatic individuals in Italy several months before the first patient was identified, and clarifies the onset and spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Finding SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in asymptomatic people before the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy may reshape the history of pandemic."
