    No I unequivocally support capitalism but not crony capitalism. These sports have been multi-million dollar loss making for the best part of four decades sending FoxTel shareholders of News Corporation and Telstra Corporation broke.

    FoxTel was never really economically viable. The amount you attribute to NRL as profit was in fact an unsustainable FoxTel loss (TLS and News Corp accounts refer).

    These sports were never really profitable industries and should go back to being amateur past-times with the elite getting a good second wage just like in the 1970s and 1980s.

    Telstra and News Corp should become profitable in other ways, they need to let FoxTel go to the wall and in turn AFL, NRL and Rugby will become amateur semi-professional sports like they were in the 1980s.
