If Foxtel folds, then the NRL puts out tenders to other organisations. Channel 9 makes up the lion's share of the tv rights. How do you not understand all of this? You are a smart man and follow various shares. If the NRL loses its tv rights completely, then the game collapses and the game will go back to 80's level of funding and players will have to supplement their income because revenue will have dried up. But, i don't think you need a degree in economics to know that if foxtel fold, then channel 10, 7 or someone else will bid for the rights. The NRL revenue may or will drop and they adjust the salary cap accordingly. THEN if players don't get paid a full time salary, then the PLAYERS decide to go and supplement their income just like any other person in society who has a shortfall in their income. That's the beauty of a free society. People in their 20's get to choose how much money they need to survive. They get to choose to go and do a degree or tafe or even network while they are paid to play sport. We as a society don't decide that for them.

without FoxTel, it ain’t worth much period. NEC will pay more for MAFS and reality program, it will be a small fraction of what they once paid for the rights. Seven West is trying to survive and CBS 0-10 will be very frugal now given what is happening in NYC.
