"All those now watching old historical sports on FoxTel and Kayo like and prefer the sports back in the 1970s, 1980s and 1960s."

Mate, you do because it is nostalgic for you because you have fond memories perhaps of your childhood etc.

What you don't realise is that back in the 70's and 80's there was one or two televised games on tv and the crowds were smaller. You also don't realise that being a kid of the 80's I don't care for games of the 70's, I don't particularly enjoy watching them. Just like today's millenials couldn't care less about watching a game of the 80's or perhaps 90's. They love watching games from the 2000's when the game became professional and THEY think games of the 80's and 90's are boring. T

Your thinking is stuck in the past. That's why Kerry Packer revolutionised cricket, because people with your way of thinking took advantage of the players. The world has evolved, sport has evolved but you are stuck in the past wanting footballers to put their bodies on the line, destroy their future quality of life and pay them a pittance for it.

Instead of celebrating the evolution of the game and it rewarding players, it seems more like you are jealous of their rewards. When most footballers get to their 40s or 50's and struggle physically, the can at least look back and think that at least the got compensated for it. The footballer from the 70's and 80's got to his 50's and struggled to walk and laments that they did it all for nothing.

The irony is that any player from the eras you idolised so much would tell you that the today's players deserve every cent they can get out of the game for the future pain and injuries they will succumb to. And every player from the World Series Cricket era will tell you that they got tired of administrators with attitudes like yours who believed players should work, struggle and not earn that much money.

in the 70's and 80's they had shite crowds and you were lucky to get one tv game. Yet, you want to turn back the clock.
