I live in the Douglas shire. Following rain you can drive along the road and as you cross a creek, you can spy the plastic bags. If you walk on the beach, the first bag you come to holds all the rest you come across.
I read one island of flotsam and plastic is 26 kilometres in diameter. probably 40 klms now.
