Hi Boiler. Appreciate your research.
The price BP paid to acquire Chargepoint was $170m US, or about A$230m. Chargepoint runs a pubic network of more than 6500EV charging points and designs, builds, sell and maintains EV charging units. This compares to RFT's maket cap of around $40m, a lot of which relates to its legacy businesses unrelated to the ev market. So I think RFT has a much smaller footprint in the ev segment.
Interestingly BP has also invested in a startup business Store Dot which aims to charge a car in 5 minutes.
I just view RFT as a manufacturer and supplier of parts and equipment, with a base in Asia, and if it can do that well then it should participate in the growth that's starting. I'm not sure that it has the technology or resources to be a leading innovator (though happy to be proven wrong).
