The Morrison Government has backed six new Australian projects to help capture the carbon emissions of some of the country's biggest energy companies.
By 2023, the Moomba gas plant could start pumping 1.7 million tons of carbon back into the ground each year and is expected to create 470 jobs directly.
Santos has been awarded $15 million from the government but the company will need the carbon storage project to qualify for carbon credits to be financially viable.
