Resources Minister Keith Pitt is under pressure to decide on the application of offshore gas exploration | Newcastle Herald

Pressure on Resources Minister Keith Pitt is increasing to determine the decision the application for gas exploration off the Hunter Coast. In February, Pitt said a decision on Advent Energy’s application to extend the oil exploration permit 11 for two years would be made “soon.” That was before Prime Minister Scott Morrison expressed public opposition to the project. The minister has since claimed that he has not rushed to evaluate the project. “We have always said that we will pay careful and detailed consideration to this decision,” Pitt said. Meanwhile, Advent Energy told the Australian Stock Exchange on Monday that the undersea wellhead equipment, We have informed Valen’s drilling project that we are seeking bids to provide materials and services. We believe this project represents “a potential solution to the problem of substantial gas shortages.” Mr Pitt was absent from Congress on Wednesday, but Congressman Shortland challenged him to rule the application: “The Minister of Resources is completely missing on Advent Energy’s PEP 11 license. So who knows where the Minister of Resources is, “said Conroy.” The minister clearly has a very different understanding of the word ’immediately’ than most of us. Because it’s been nearly four months and we’re still waiting for a decision. ”The drill is ready. They are currently bidding on drilling rigs to start drilling offshore in places like Redhead Beach. The ball is firmly in government court. “Community group Save Hour Coast has collected 86,000 signatures on a petition to suspend the PEP-11 project.” Save Our Coast is this dangerous fossil. We have always wanted a fair process that meets the wishes of communities directly affected by fuel projects. The future of PEP11 is now in the hands of Minister Keith Pitt. Drilling is premature and the scope of the fair process Outside. “Given the risks that offshore drilling can have disastrous consequences for society and the environment, we want positive action now, not vague promises for the next election.”
