The Albanese government is set to approve an extension of a major West Australian gas project as the nation's transition to renewable energy comes under pressure.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that as Australia transitions to renewable energy, the country still needs gas in the system as a reliable form of baseload power.
This comes as power bills on Australia's east coast are set to climb.
