You refer to “variations” in the current application and mention 3D seismic.

The approval in 2010 is not different to the current application.
Advent did not do 3D seismic back then.
The well was located and drilled on 2D seismic.
NOPTA was happy to approve it then.

And once approval was granted the well was drilled very soon afterwards
(The actual timetable last time from NOPTA approval to drilling is set out in a recent post)

I see no reason why this time it will be any different.
So there is a high probability the well will be drilled this year.
    ....................................................................
I have copied and pasted an earlier post I made on 3D seismic V 2D seismic

    THE EARLIER POST

There is no argument about 3D seismic v 2D.
There is no suggestion 3D is being considered.

2D seismic has already been done and paid for to decide the latest drill site.
2D is not harmful to marine life.

While 3D seismic is regarded as being more accurate,
there are many locations in the world where it is not permitted,
and many successful wells have been drilled on 2D seismic.

The greens already oppose (with no logic or justification) this well being drilled EVER.
    Just like they oppose everything.

A proposal to do 3D testing would mean the greens would mount a massive campaign enlisting huge support to stop it.
3D allegedly can damage marine life hearing ( whales, dolphins etc) and upset their navigation
The litigation would go on for years (probably decades)
and any success to allow 3D would be appealed for more decades.

The last well was drilled on 2D,
despite the greens, and back then extreme radical green senator Lee Rhiannon mounting a vigorous campaign to prevent the drilling,
    approval was granted.

It caused no environmental problems then.
So there are no grounds this time to stop it.

Suggesting 3D seismic would be like starting world war 3
    It is not beIng suggested.
    It will not happen.

The NOPTA approvals should be not far away
