Sure, thousands of small sellers will have an affect, I agree.
What I'm talking about here from my observations in general are thousands of small micro trades in the range of say $0.001 to a few dollars which smack of price control and market manipulation, herding the masses in one direction or another. This is both for the purpose of accumulating more stock cheaply (tree shaking), or simply bailing out of a large stock holding for as high a price as possible.
Either way, it is done via price manipulation. As for all things in life, we all look ,but not everybody can always see. One only has to cast an eye over the list of daily trades of companies to see it in action.
Of course we can all latch on to this manipulation and profit ourselves....
